For the weeks of March 11-15 and March 18-22 parent volunteers will come to Mrs. Shiflette's classroom and read aloud to a group of 4 or 5 students during their lunch period. The goal for this part of the program is to have all 21 students in our class read out loud to by a parent during lunch. The parent will ask students questions about what is happening though out the book and then ask the students follow up comprehension questions after they have finished reading. I will be present at all of the Bedtime Stories at Lunch sessions. My hope is that students will engage in rich discussion about the books and make good personal connections to the stories.
During these two weeks in March I will be sending home books that are above the students reading level that can be read aloud to them by you or one of their loved ones in their book bags! I will be sending home a log sheet in the book bags. Please feel free to read other books aloud to your child during the week! The student who brings in a log with the most books read aloud to them for each of the weeks will get a small prize!

There will be a volunteer sign up sheet sent home Monday March 4th with a small survey. Please fill out this sheet and send it back in your students homework folder.
Thanks!
